Just yesterday I was watching a rerun of CSI: Miami, and got to thinking about how all the incarnations of CSI are good examples of how to repurpose an idea. As for inspiration, every thought, opinion, or question you have during each and every day is a possible source. As for web writing vs. corp-- I was in the same boat as you and I'm still learning new stuff almost a year later. As long as you don't pretend to know stuff you don't, and you show people that you are eager to learn, you'll be fine! When you are ready, really ready, you will do well.
