Getting Social from the Stars

If you’re looking for a great example of how to engage an audience, just check out Commander Chris Hadfield’s tweets from space! He’s been tweeting since he arrived on the space station (for his 3-day journey to the ISS, his son took over his Twitter feed.) Be it pictures, rock concerts, or answering questions, Commander Hadfield is a social machine! If you don’t follow him now, I highly recommend you follow him now. Here’s a selection of his tweets:

Life on the ISS

  • Lunch in a Pouch – this is Fiesta Chicken. Very tasty. You can see my long spoon velcroed to the table. pic.twitter.com/xUw3XKrN
  • @WilliamShatner Yes, Standard Orbit, Captain. And we’re detecting signs of life on the surface. This exchange got a lot of us space & Star Trek geeks very happy! Had Sulu and Wesley Crusher involved too

All-Time Favourite Moment So Far

This has got to be my all-time favourite moment (though all the Star Trek conversations were cool too): Commander Hadfield did a Q&A session with the students at his eponymous school in Milton, Ontario, the Chris Hadfield Public School. What was even cooler about this for me (aside from watching it live on tv), was the fact that a friend’s son goes to that school, and got to be there too. They had another one of the Canadian astronauts, Jeremy Hansen be the MC at the school, and the CAPCOM in Houston helped coordinate things. All in all, a very cool thing. I recommend you follow Commander Hadfield right away, as he’s just a tweeting machine, posting all sorts of interesting things. Enjoy
